The mandate includes in-depth due diligence assessments by an external consultancy on the basis of publicly available data; the positioning of the private partner in relation to the Swiss Agency of Development and Cooperation criteria and cases, based on reports and allegations from third-party sources is evaluated.The main elements of the due diligence assessment, which is the object of the mandate to be given to a consultancy, are the following:— Compare the potential partner and the partnership against SDC’s own standards;— Compare the potential partner and the partnership against any other international standards relevant to the case;— Provide an evaluation of the reputational risks related to the case, based on reports and allegations from third-party sources, such as NGOs, media, and governmental agencies;— Make a recommendation: approve, approve with conditions, or decline the partnership. Of course, the recommendation should include any proposed conditions.The outcome of the due diligence process is a summary of the findings, open issues and recommendations. This will provide the basis for SDC to decide whether or not to enter into a partnership with the private company.
