The Remmendalen sewage treatment plant is located in Remmendalen east of the centre of Halden. The treatment plant processes sewage water from Halden municipality. The plant also receive septic from the inhabitants that are not connected to the pipeline.The treatment plant receive sewage from approx. 30 000 people, as well as water from the industry and business sector. The plant was put in operation in 1979.The plant now be expanded in relation to process. This includes a biological treatment level in such a way that the requirements to secondary treatment, in accordance with the Pollution Regulations — Section 4 — Sewage Chapter 14, are fulfilled. Most of the expansion shall be inside the existing buildings by reconstruction of the existing basins. An addition shall also be constructed. The addition shall be located against the existing basin hall for support functions to the new treatment processes. The plant shall also be subject to renovation and up-grading, i.a. by measures in the office section, as well as construction of new changing rooms and meeting rooms.A lot of the works shall be executed in direct connection to structures containing sewage waters, and particular measures in relation to hygiene must therefore be expected.This contract includes building technical structures, outdoor facilities and road works.The plant shall be in operation during the entire construction period.
