The University of Southampton is looking to contract for the supply, delivery, commissioning and user training of an ultrafast laser system and associated equipment needed for biomedical imaging for use by its Faculty of Natural and Environmental Sciences. The system in question will be a picosecond laser system with dual optical parametric oscillators and second harmonic and difference frequency generation extensions. The aim of this whole system is to provide laser capability for enabling state-of-the-art developments and application of coherent vibrational (Raman and IR) imaging as applied to biomedical microscopy. This system is to enable high-impact research to overcome the challenges required for biomedical microscopy and facilitate multi-disciplinary projects spanning the interface of physical and life sciences and engineering. This system will be installed at the University's Highfield Campus. The acquisition of this system will primarily service the deliverables as envisaged in the NanoChemBioVision project but also foster new collaborative research across the University and will enable researchers to overcome fundamental limitations in imaging for improved biomedical understanding, diagnoses and therapy.Bids will be assessed on the basis of a cost: quality ratio of 25 %:75 % to be broken down using the following high level criteria:Price 25 %Technical Suitability and Evaluation 50 %Service Level Support 10 %Maintenance 10 %Delivery 5 %Full details, including sub-criteria, is available within the invitation to tender documentation. This tender will be conducted electronically and tender documents can be downloaded from the web portal (Intend) provided earlier in this notice. https://in-tendhost.co.uk/universityofsouthampton.Expressions of Interest must be by way of completion and return of the Invitation to Tender document via the University's e-tendering system Intend by the date/time specified in IV.3.4.Request for clarifications can only be requested until 12:00 on Wednesday 17.6.2015 via the In-Tend portal correspondence facility. All responses must be uploaded onto this portal by no later than 12:00 on Friday 3.7.2015. Failure to upload your response by this time may result in your exclusion from the tender process. If you are experiencing any technical difficulties when uploading on to the system, please ring +44 2380592654 Before the 12:00 deadline for investigation, calls received after this time will not be considered.
