To support the Aarhus City Council's goal to lead the way in the green transition and create a CO2 neutral society by 2030,
Kredsløb is planning to establish a CO2 capture plant to capture the flue gas from the entire Lisbjerg plant, consisting of
two separate plants, including one which is used for the processing of collected waste from (mainly) Aarhus, and one which
is used for the processing of biomass (mostly straw). The CO2 capture project will form a natural and necessary part of Kredsløb's
ordinary activities, which includes production and distribution of electricity and district heating to citizens in primarily
Aarhus Municipality. The CO2 capture project will also include transport and storage of CO2. To facilitate these elements
of the project, Kredsløb has initiated the preparation of a tender for transport and storage of CO2 captured at the Lisbjerg
plant. The tender is expected to be launched in Q4 2023/Q1 2024.The purpose of this prior information notice is to inform
market players about the existence and overall features of the upcoming tender and thus to encourage market players to consider
relevant cooperations in relation to the tender. However, the purpose is also to invite market participants to participate
in an ongoing market dialogue by reaching out to the contact person listed above. As part of establishing a CO2 capture plant
in Lisbjerg, Kredsløb is currently initiating preparation of a tender for an agreement concerning transport and storage of
CO2 from the Lisbjerg plant. The scope of the tender will include both transport of CO2 from the Lisbjerg plant to the storage
and the CO2 storing itself. Kredsløb has not decided - and will not decide - on the type of transportation, type of storage
or storage methods, but trusts that the market is better to demonstrate relevant solutions, including both transport and storage.
Kredsløb, however, notes that as a part of this ‘all-inclusive solution’, it is expected that the contract may also include
CO2 pipeline transport, intermediate storing, and if needed liquefaction.The CO2 capture plant is expected to be in (full)
operation by 1st of January 2029. Kredsløb wishes to prepare a flexible tender, leaving room for negotiations and continuous
improvements, and potentially a compensation for participating parties. As a part of the preparation of the tender, Kredsløb
wishes to invite all interested parties to participate in a market dialogue with the intention of uncovering technical capabilities
and capacities within the area of CO2 transport and storage. In addition, Kredsløb wishes to get a better understanding of
the market's typical approach to entering into agreements in this regard, in particular: - the market's prerequisites for
delivering an 'all-inclusive solution'- the market's ability to transport and store CO2 by 2029, and the market's readiness
to enter into a binding agreement with Kredsløb prior to this- the market's input in relation to relevant risk mitigations
in the light of the (still) immature market conditions for carbon capture storage in general. Kredsløb urges any interested
parties to contact Kredsløb as soon as possible if they wish to participate in the market dialogue. The tender will be carried
out as a competitive procedure with negotiation. Kredsløb expects to launch the tender Q4 2023/Q1 2024.
